I just paid $99 and my mail is not working. I did set up my @Mac account. It is working w/ out problems on my iPhone and on the mail.mac.com. However I am having problem on my desktop, I can receive mails but I can not send them.

I am getting message:

"Cannot send message using server stmp.mac.com:XXXXXX
The connection to the server "stmp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.

Select different outgoing mail server from the below or click try later to leave message in your outbox until it can e Delivered.

Under Server I only have one option

stmp.mac.com:XXXXXXX (Offline)

So I am not sure what to do any more.....plz help

Either you need to double check your SMTP settings or your ISP is blocking all SMTP servers but their own. In that case, just set up mail to use your ISPs SMTP server instead of Apples and you should be good to go.

I 2 other accounts on my PC and I have never had any problems so I dont think that my ISP is blocking STMP.

What do you I need to check/change with the Apple STMP?

When I try Connection Doctor I get:

Go To Mail -> Preferences -> (-) Delete Account -> (+) Add Account

make sure you uncheck "Automatically Set up Account"

Hi,

I kinda had this issue the other day and found I needed to change the port to 587 instead of 25, I believe. As soon as I did that...voila....everything worked again.

I'm on my PC right now (shush, don't tell) so I can't give you the path, but I think it was under the general preferences for Mail. Hope this helps.

Check with your ISP

Yes, I've run into this problem. One thing you might do is check with your ISP and use their outgoing mail server. I think mine was something like: mail.charter.net. I've not had this problem since I moved out of the charter area and into Comcast. But my parents had a similar problem, and again resolved by using the ISPs outgoing mail server.
