I have a customer at work who has an ipad and an imac.

she uses the mail app on both.
Both use imap settings not pop3

Inbox emails she says show on both.
junk/spam show on one or the other (im guessing which ever one goes online first)

can I sort this?

she needs all emails on both devices.
imac is always one and auto checks email every 5 mins.

some of her emails get miss sorted and junk/spam so needs them.

her email is with bt if it helps.

What needs to be checked is the Spam filtering settings at the server (if there are any) and the Junk Mail preferences on the iMac. The iPad doesn't do any junk/spam filtering or moving on its own.

ok but if thats true then would the spam/junk appear in ipad and sometimes not in imac?

They seem to almost always show on the imac but NOT in ipad.
except one which she got this morning.

on ipad only not imac.

what if set ipad to imap and imac to pop3?
would that help?

No. That's not gonna help. Who is the email provider?

Give what I suggested a shot and report what the settings are back here.

Has this ever happened?:
  1. iMac Mail off.
  2. New message shows up in "Spam" or "Junk" (which is it, anyway?) folder on iPad and left there.
  3. iMac Mail turned on.
  4. The message in question does NOT end up in any folder in the iMac's Mail.
