Hi,

I noticed that Mail is taking up almost half of my hard drive. Can someone please help me work through how to reduce the size? I understand it is probably old attachments, is there a way to delete these post a certain time period?

Also, can someone help me send all downloaded attachments to one folder? I'd like to send them to a dropbox folder so that I can then sync easily with iPad (given the iPad app doesn't download automatically without opening the email.

Thanks very much!

M

Hi, thanks for the response, really appreciate it. Can I ask though, is it not possible to maybe have settings to automatically do this? Ie remove downloaded attachments post, say, 6 months? I travel a lot so having the attachments download automatically is important when I can’t be on WiFi, but surely there must be some setting to allow the computer to automatically take old ones off the computer.

Thanks very much!

I am sure others will chime in, but you could probably create a "automator" task and have it run when you log on or when you have been on the computer for so long. I have not done this, but it seems like this would be a perfect case for it.

So interestingly, I followed the instructions in the link above, deleting the contents of the Mail Downloads folder....made no difference! So what can I do??

I usually use Onyx to clean my system every now and then - Im pretty sure it also cleans mail downloads etc too....

I am Kind of scared to use it, cause there is little info about what it is deleting

Mail cleanup and than cleanup trash saved me 300 mb
