For some reason a couple of months or so ago Mail stopped sending and then receiving mail and asked for a password. So I go into gmail create a new app specific password and it works again. For maybe a couple of hours. Then disconnects again and asks for a password.

This happens for both my gmail email accounts.

Any ideas how to fix this?

(IMAP is enabled on both )

Are you using the same app-specific password on more than one device? That gave me problems when Gmail first introduced it, since then I've created separate passwords for each device (although I use the same one for each service on the same device, e.g. my Mac Mini uses the same app-specific password for Mail, Calendar, Google Talk, Google Docs - then my MacBook Air uses its own single dedicated password for all those services).

Since setting it up that way maybe a year or so ago, I haven't had a hitch.

I have the same problem - using a MobileMe account

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is to even use different application specific passwords for both ingoing traffic (IMAP) and outgoing settings (SMPT). So you get 4 passwords for 2 accounts, etc.

Works for me!
