Mail Verification Fails

I've tried activating my aol account on my iPod touch multiple times but each time it says "Server at imap.aol.com is not responding" and just wont work. Also, I can't log on to apollo, it just stays on the connecting screen and wont load my buddy list. I have Open SSH and BSD Subsystems installed but it just won't work. Does anybody have and idea of what's wrong?
