In all previous versions of Apple Mail, selecting a mailbox displayed the total number of messages in that mailbox next to the name of the mailbox in the title bar. For example:

Inbox (422 messages, 8 unread)

I am NOT interested in UNREAD messages, but the TOTAL number of messages in a mailbox.

This feature is now gone in Yosemite.

Anyone know how I can get the total number of messages in the currently selected mailbox to appear somewhere?

Thanks!

P.S.- seems idiotic to me to take this very useful feature away (Apple giveth and Apple taketh away).

Me too, partially

I'm having this problem, too, but only on my iMac. The count still appears on my Macbook Air, using the same OS and same version of Mail.

Mine is missing too most of the time. Sometimes quitting and restarting Mail will restore the count.

Waiting for a fix. This has been happening off and on with Mavericks and Yosemite.
