Maintain internet connection when Mac is on sleep mode?

Is it possible to put my iMac to sleep but maintain an internet connection?
Say for downloading big files while I go out?

Nope. Just put the display to sleep.

You can't sleep the display without using a hot corner (in System Preferences) but you can always do that, or download a program like InsomniaX and just turn on insomnia and that will prevent the computer from falling asleep, then you can just click sleep display, or use a hot corner. 🙂

You can try shift-control-eject to turn off the display. it works on my macbook.

Ha that worked for me too. 😉 I was reading online it wasn't possible with Leopard for some reason 😕. Glad to know that for future references.

Download Caffeine and turn your screen brightness all the way down.
