I bought a pair on Amazon a few weeks ago and yes they are expensive and the case is a bit ridiculous but I love them. Sounds absolutely amazing and they are very comfortable - and no condensation issues whatsoever. I wore them on a 4-hour flight recently and the ANC is remarkable. Very happy with my purchase and I use them all the time for my work calls. And for a good, objective comparison check out Brian Tong's comparison video - its a bit long but excellent.

We're tracking one of the biggest restocks of AirPods Max headphones as we enter April, available at Amazon and Verizon. This restock includes nearly all colors of the AirPods Max.

AirPods-Max-In-Stock-black.jpg

Amazon has all five colors except Pink available, with Space Gray at slightly delayed 1-2 day shipping estimates. Verizon is offering free two-day shipping on the Space Gray, Green, and Sky Blue AirPods Max.

We've been keeping track of ‌‌‌AirPods Max‌‌‌ stock at third-party retailers because the headphones still have slightly delayed shipping estimates on Apple's website. Apple's shipping times are beginning to improve however, with a mid-April estimate as of today.

Still, if you're interested in getting the over-ear headphones as soon as possible, Amazon or Verizon will be your best bet for this week.
AirPods Max‌‌‌ cost $549.00, and feature Active Noise Cancellation technology and the same Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, and spatial audio features that are in the AirPods Pro. If you're hunting for AirPods-related deals, we track sales for every model of the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ in our Best AirPods Deals guide.

I find it strange that MR is posting stock updates for this product. I know they are a business too so need advertisement and affiliate revenue to survive, but it would be nice if we could opt out.

I also find it strange that this product is in such high demand that they're still out of stock. I'm sure they're a great product, but you'd expect a $550 smartphone to go flying off shelves, not headphones necessarily.
A lot of people have more disposable income than you may think. Really.

Got mine after my B&W PX7 malfunctioned. The PX7s are getting replaced for free but couldn't wait and got the AirPods Max on Amazon (5% cashback by using my Chase Prime card).

These things are great! Echoing much of what's already been said above!

I did try the Sony XM4 while they were on sale last week. However, coming from PX7, they felt like cheap toys and the cups were too small for my ears so I returned them. So happy with this decision and that I gave the Sonys a try so now I know!

Rtings actually rated Sony WH-1000XM4 (half the price of Airpods Max) higher than Apple headphones.
I prefer the Sony WX-1000XM4 over the AirPods Max. I found the Sony's more comfortable (being lighter weight), have slightly better ANC (for some reason, the AirPods Max hurt my ears a bit) and overall liked the sound on the Sony's more (a bit more punch)

Does anyone know if this can be used with an amp + wired?

I'm hearing impaired, so I use my headphone with an amp to increase the volume.

I wasn't a fan of Meze Neo 99, returned it last week. Still rocking a Sen 280 HD pro atm.

I finally picked up a pair.

So damn comfortable and sound is fantastic. the noise cancel is top notch. just sold my Sony mx3s and so happy I switch to these.

and they don't feel cheap either Sony....

Picked up a pair last week and took delivery on Friday. Absolutely blown away. ANC is best-in-class. Sound is phenomenal. Fit and comfort is unparalleled.

I'm in the same boat as others who've picked up a pair and love them. This beats the Bose and Sonys I had by a long shot. Because it's Apple, it also works great with my other Apple devices. Switching is seamless.
Excuse me the triple spam, but glad to hear about also the positive experiences after such a barrage of hour after hour posts and comments against them for months.
I was on a similar boat: when I got them I was not too sure about what was a somewhat impulsive buy (after Apple care and taxes it’s close to $900 CAD here) and was ready to dislike them... but 5mins wearing them I knew it was a keeper.
I also noobishly just put the clamps at the smallest length (ear cups are very big so ears would still fit) and started feeling a sort of cheek pain, it was the complete opposite feeling now, wanted to fix that no matter what to not have to turn them back... just had to put the length at the right-ish one and the weight distributes itself properly.

I too wonder what’s up with this. When I got them I would check the online pickup-store option at the closest Apple store for several days, they last in stock for about 10mins if at all. It was only a matter of luck until I got one queued, paid and went to pick them up.

Never heard of that before. I wish my ears were that good to notice. Too much 70’s & 80’s punk. 😂

I occasionally use my AirPods Max on a PC, wired and connected to a DAC. This use sounds similar to your desired setup. To do this, Apple sells a lightning to 3.5mm cable (1.2m length), and it works well.

As in AirPod-class? These are just overwhelming overpriced.

My silvers are already yellowing. Pretty horrible. I love everything about this company, like, I had a Newton, so trust me when I say I’m disappointed but it’s real. :/
