Make some round watches, and figure out what you have to do (even if it means feature tradeoffs) to offer some models with better battery life.

For some of us, that is important item #1, #2 & #3.

On my Garmin I charge about every 8 days, despite tracking 3-5 workouts a week, a few walks and sleep every night. I recently tried a newer Garmin with a bit worse battery life and I returned it. I just really really love not having to think about battery life very often. That's how I want my watch to be.
The problem is that Apple isn't going to offer a "dumbed down" (for lack of a better term) version of the watch to achieve better battery life. Because the Apple Watch does a lot more overall as a smartwatch than a Garmin does, it will always lag behind in battery. And, if Apple could find or create the battery technology that could give it Garmin-like numbers while keeping all of the features, you can be sure that Garmin and others would find a way to adopt it, which would then still push their battery life numbers ahead of Apple.

The rumors surrounding the Apple Watch are always so ridiculous:

First, it's always the next Apple Watch that's supposed to get a super cool new design.
Of course, that never happens🤣.

And now they're coming up with this.

The biggest weakness of Apple watches:

watchOS -> far too few features for sports compared to Garmin.

Google is already way ahead with its new Fitbit Health Coach:
A new, personal health coach is coming to Fitbit

Public preview is out:
Fitbit's personal health coach in public preview is here

But without Apple AI... I have no idea what Apple is trying to do there.😅

Buying Fitbit was a bit of a masterstroke by Google.

Meanwhile Apple spent 3 billion on Beats to make phone cases

Good! Rumors of full AWU redesign after only 3 iterations made no sense. One would expect minimally 5 years.

It's not "dumbed down" to offer different feature sets and goals for a different device.

That's exactly the thinking they need to get away from.

Exactly. I would fine with a MIPS Apple Watch, for example. Not going to happen, but it would be fine.

I don’t use my watch for notifications, or mail, or calls, or music, or Siri.. it just records workouts and my day-to-day stats. I do use maps when trail running as I’m often on areas I’m not familiar with, and I don’t carry my phone when working out.

No they aren’t. I absolutely want a larger screen.

Sure, as long as they keep offering one with a smaller footprint, for those who don’t like giant watches. My series 6 was about as big as I wanted to go. If I bought a 10 or 11, it would opt for the smaller model. I can’t think of anything a larger screen would offer, for me anyway.

Now I have a Garmin 265. It’s the perfect size, and it’s round. I don’t want a wrist computer, just a fitness and sports tracker.

I'm familiar with all the arguments for and against, but I wish Apple made a round watch.
Yes please! I am in the market for my first smart watch because of all the health monitoring features, but the current form factor is just plain ugly in my opinion. It would be great if we could choose a round or rectangular Apple Watch.

The next design will be Pentagon,Hexagon,Octagon, and Decagon😱😱😱

What this highlights, to me anyhow, is that they need many more models with actual differences and variations.

These are accessories we wear. People see them. They are quite often considered in conjunction with what we are wearing.

It's mind boggling to me that Apple just "stopped" at little computer rectangle on the wrist and I guess figured just swapping bands is enough?
This here. Give us options. Most watchmakers offer several different lines like classic models, chronometers, dive watches, and so on. Apple has the rectangular computer screen watch and the ultra watch. Give us a round watch Apple!

Apple has redesigned the Series Watches every 3 years, like clockwork. So the next redesign should be in 2027. The Ultra has not been redesigned yet, but it is in it‘s third iteration of the same design, so it would be a candidate for a redesign in 2026 if the mentioned 3-year rule is also valid for the Ultra.
All true except the Ultra is beyond the 3 year cycle as the U2 was sold for 2 years without any update

So some want a round watch ...
Others a larger...
And then others a smaller Ultra ...
And a lot of complaints about charging needs...

Today Apple offers 4 different AW models (without taking cellular or not into consideration.

If Apple were to offer a round model say in 2 sizes, it would have a different band attach system and people would complain...
And people would also complain that the AW offering is convoluted ...

Can't make everyone happy, sorry folks

That‘s why I wrote „3 iterations“. 😉

But yeah, that the Ultra didn‘t get a new version in 24 was unprecedented for Apple Watches, so who knows what their plans for it are wrt redesigns.

I stopped wearing mine several years ago and went back to my watch collection. There's nothing unique about the Vanilla Watch, and a watch is -- after all -- jewelry. There's plenty of places to see the time...

I spent a bit extra for my Apple Watch getting the Titanium version with a Nomad Titanium band. From one watch face I monitor sleep, blood oxygen, ECG, steps, temperature, wind speed and direction, S&P 500, elapsed time, timers, time, day, and date. The watch looks great and I can't imagine anything else I'd want to monitor. It would take some kind of super amazing redesign to get me to 'upgrade'.

Actually, if I were Apple I'd leave this watch style alone and come up with a second type of watch, allowing us a choice of watches to wear, maybe even making that 2nd watch round rather than square. The second type of watch that I imagine is one that is 100% AI centered. People like me would probably buy the new one, then choose one or the other depending on the occasion.

Possible that next year's model will have some form of biometric authentication as rumored without any design change. Considering that Series 10 is kind of a major change with thinner design, a design change will not be happening in two years time. 4 to 5 years is more likely and maybe a refresh along with 20th anniversary iPhone could also happen. But next year seems early.
