Is anyone else experiencing major battery drain using iOS 12 beta five? I have three phones in my household all of which are draining the battery at the same time, it’s all going from 100% to almost dead at 0% in the matter of two to 3 hours this is without using the phone much either

Revert back to iOS 11.4.1

My iPhone 7 gets through the whole day with about 65% of the battery remaining, so something else must be going on. Check the Battery in the Settings to see what uses it up.

Reset all your settings before trying a restore. My iPhone X went from 8am to midnight with solid mixed WiFi and cellular use and heavy photo taking yesterday without issue and my iPad Pro has been solid.

I’m on developer beta 5 on my iPPro and have seen much better battery usage vs. beta 4.

And I would never gas anyone. ;)

Think I found the issue. On all three devices after updated to Beta 5, photos switched from optimize storage to Downlod originals. Zero clue how or why. Almost 10 hours of background activity for 47000 photos and videos. Yea I think that will do it.

Not sure what’s happening with your phones but on my X I get to the end of the day with 60% left normally with about 4-5 hours of screen time. Possibly a problem with one of the apps or games your using?!?

I am. Yesterday I left home with 100% went to eat at a restaurant and had 2 drinks. I got back home and battery was already 65%.

Reset your settings and do couple soft-resets on your iOS devices back to back. PB5 has offered the best battery life for my iOS devices so far. However, my AW (watchOS 4.3.2) certainly does not like PB5 as Do Not Disturb (DND) and notifications have been mostly acting up and I do not get haptic feedback for texts and messages half the time. Battery life on my AW has also taken a hit.

I had to revert back to iOS 11 yesterday, because while on roaming the phone would heat up a lot and the battery just drain really really quickly. It usually does while on roaming even if your Network Selection is set to manual, but the drain was very very drastic... from 86% to 45% in 90 mins and the phone just wouldn't cool down no matter what I'd do.

Interesting. Have you tried resetting your network settings first? I roam regularly with iPhone 7 and have not noticed such a drastic battery drain. Was it shortly after updating to the new beta (DB5/PB4)? If so, your phone might have been reindexing your photos, which was the case for a few people here and would explain it heating up.

I’m using iOS 12 on an iPhone X, iPad Pro and iPad mini 4.

All the betas have been pretty good, but with 5 I’m noticing faster battery drain than usual on all these devices. First time since launch where I’m unable to go through a usual day with iPhone X not needing a top up.

Even the 12.9” iPad Pro with massive battery draining more than usual.

It’s a beta though, not too worried. Will see how it goes with beta 6.

I did reset network settings, but it was still draining like crazy. I traveled yesterday and have the DB5 since it came out on Monday. It was very odd: worked absolutely fine on my home network in terms of stability and I also got a considerable amount of battery life back in comparison to beta 4. Once i landed, the phone temperature shot up and battery wouldn’t stop draining. Back to ios11 now as I’ll be away for a month and I don’t want to shoot my battery capacity by having to constantly charge it.
