I'm having some big problems after just upgrading to Lion. I was rearranging a few things in the launchpad and then the desktop background was flashing between the default background and a blank gray screen. I've rebooted a few times and have of course repeatedly relaunched finder I've verified and repaired the disk using Disk Utility and everything there is ok. After repeated flashing, its now settled on the blank gray screen. Additionally the dock would not appear. After going into system preferences, and making the dock not hidden, the dock now just repeatedly crashes and restarts. On top of all this, in general the computer is just running EXTREMELY slow. It was fine prior to all of the aforementioned issues. I really have no idea what to do here. Any assistance is appreciated.

I'm on a 2007 Macbook Pro 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB 667 MHz ram. Help!

Yes I definitely have. The only updates available being printer drivers and iTunes. Which if I tried to install, it would likely take about 15 years the way this computer is running right now.

Are you running a utility for setting the desktop or hiding its icons - something like Camouflage? It messed with Lion in ways similar to what you describe, and completely hosed Mission Control. Just a thought...

Any updates?

Did you get a solution to this? I just started having the exact same problem. Flashes between by desktop picture and a grey screen, icons and dock disappear.

Any ideas or resolutions would be great to hear.
