Hi,

Yesterday I upgraded my boot drive to a 970 Pro mounted on a Kyro adaptor.

I’m now getting major intermittent system hangs that prevent me from working.

Here’s what I did:

1) Formatted the 970 as APFS.

2) Cloned my running boot drive to the 970 using CCC.

3) Shut down, swapped out the old boot drive for the 970 and rebooted.

4) Gave the 970 a different name to the previous boot drive.

I’m now getting frequent beachball hangs making it impossible to work.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong here?

Frequent messages in Console are:

(From reports/system log)

error 11:50:11.199600 +0000 kernel compat_ifmu_ulist: en0 copyin() error 14

(From the devices/my machine name - errors only)

com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.mdworker.shared.1F000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000[2879]): Service exited due to SIGKILL | sent by mds[82]

(From the devices/my machine name - general messages - VERY OFTEN)

default 12:35:33.168183 +0000 diskarbitrationd <private>

Not sure if it makes a difference but my previous boot SSD was originally formatted as HFS but got converted when I upgraded to Mojave as far as I know.

Any help much appreciated.

Update:

I re-cloned from another CCC backup instead of cloning from the running boot drive. This seems to have solved the hanging but as I've detailed in another thread the power supply and expansion slot fans are now revving up much more than they ever did before under working loads.

I do have those errors without any other ssd.

Just using 11.2 with an M1 MBP.

A "lot" auf kernel warnings....
compat_ifmu_ulist: en1 copyin() error 14 (also en0, en2, awd10, llw0,...)
