Clearly this is a big flaw. Can it be resolved, like stat?!

Why would you want to like your own posts, it's bad enough to like your own post on facebook.

I noticed that myself. I figure I'm owed one like for each of my 4,012 posts!

I think it's assumed that the person likes their own posts or they would not be posting it.

Earn your 'likes' like the rest of us, dude.... by being the most annoying person in the thread to the point that it's almost funny.

I think it is obvious you're biased or favored your view or expression in your post. However, I think the major flaw here is that the site does not have "dislike" button to counter useless posts ;) You can like your own post while others can dislike them. You'll sure end up with more dislikes than likes either way. Give us "dislike" button, stat! :p

One could infer from the very fact that you posted something that you "liked" it. Don't see the point... it would just be an opportunity to artificially inflate a somewhat insignificant forum statistic.

Liking you own posts is kind of like getting lucky with your cousin, no?

Is this proof we're living in a simulation? Like The Matrix? Oooh, or maybe it's more of an Inception thing!

...wait, if it's Inception, then that means it's my dream doesn't it? Or am I part of someone else's dream? Or maybe it's all the complete opposite. If you could like your own post, then that would be proof you are in a dream. Ugh, I'm going for a run.

In the old system, before the switch, apparently it was possible to "like" your own posts, and it seems that some members availed themselves generously of this facility.

I could down vote myself then too. I went through a difficult time of self loathing.

Due to that demonstrated objectivity I should be trusted to like my posts that we’d all agree are heroically likable.

Though, you have skin in the same, so you probably aren’t unbiased. Perhaps you need a 3rd party to judge? (May I suggest someone with an MD in Pyschiatry?) :p

I nominate Lulu M.D.. Despite occasionally falling asleep in her dinner bowl during our sessions, she’s very qualified.

Yay! Thank you. You’re courteous, honorable, and a scholar....and there’s very few of us left.

If you feel you need to "like" your own post, you're posting for the wrong reasons. Posting (on forums like this) is either to share information or to ask for it- not for popularity. A lot of likes should mean "a lot of agreement" with a post, not a person. The need to "like" your own post feeds a grade-school desire that is for sites with low (or no) standards, like Facebook which happens to let you do just that.

I think your sarcasm/tongue-in-cheek detector is broken.
