Similar problem - please help!

I have the black macbook.

I was working on my mac, just normal stuff, the spinning wheel came on and wouldn't let me do anything for 10 minutes. I turned computer off by holding the power button. When I turned it back on the screen came on without the apple logo and did nothing. I could hear normal quiet computer noises & the fan came on too.

I tried restarting many times.

I tried restarting and then holding down the shift button when the chime sounded - then I got a flashing file folder in the middle of the screen with a question mark inside.

I tried the PRAM restart - still same white/blue screen. The flashing folder is gone.

Sounds like you got bitten too.

Read through the post from the beginning and follow the instructions given to the original poster.

Have you tried starting up from the disk that came with you computer?

If it's still under warrenty take it to the Apple Store.
