Hello there, I recently have come across some strange storage issues on my phone. While it is hooked up to my iMac, in iTunes it states I have 5.97 GB of photos. I recently wiped all the pictures (1 week ago) off the phone to open up some space. But, the 5.97 GB is still there, and when I try to sync more music or apps, It states that the phone is still full.

Right below where it says 5.97 GB of photos in the summary tab, it says there are only 24 photos (photos taken since I wiped the rest). Obviously 24 photos could never amount to 6 GB of space.

I've erased all the pictures from the "deleted photos" section. As far as the Photos app on the iPhone is concerned, I only have 24 photos.

Anybody else run into this issue? I'm running the latest iTunes and iPhone software (iOS 8.1.1) on a 16 GB phone. Thanks for reading! :)

afaik PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE ME AND SAY I AM WRONG

this is a new feature of iOS 8. its the iPhoto recycle bin

your photos are left in "recently deleted" when you erase them

    or..

if the phone says 0 photos and itunes says 5 gigs it could just mean that itunes wants to put 5 gigs of pictures when you click on sync

go to the phone in itunes
try checking SYNC PHOTOS ON AND OFF and see if that makes the bar change

maybe one of your photos is a video ???? hey I'm just throwing it out there and seeing if it sticks

Sorry, I meant recently deleted when I said deleted photos. That was my first method after searching for this issue on Apple help. Thanks, I'll try that. I might just unsync photos completely from iTunes for a bit.

    Hi

Have you tried a Restore via iTunes and set up as a new device.

Then update your data via your most recent back up.

I'm having the exact same problem. Wiped nearly 9 gbs of photos. My phone still says it's using 8.4 gbs of storage for pictures, although none of them are there anymore. I'll try these couple things too. Let me know if you figure it out! Thanks!

I wiped my phone completely, restored and set up as a new phone. Still have 6 GB of pictures permanently attached to the phone like a parasite. Very bizarre

It is also worth noting that I disables photo sync, so there should be no photos coming from my iMac.
