The iOS 18.3.2, iPadOS 18.3.2, macOS Sequoia 15.3.2, and visionOS 2.3.2 updates that Apple released today include an important security fix for a WebKit vulnerability that may have been actively exploited.

In Apple's security notes for each update, Apple says that maliciously crafted web content could break out of the Web Content sandbox. Most of the issue was addressed with iOS 17.2, but Apple has added an additional supplementary fix in today's updates.

Apple says that it is aware of a report that the vulnerability may have been exploited "in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals," though it is worth noting that these attacks happened prior to iOS 17.2.

The issue was addressed with improved checks to prevent unauthorized actions.

Given that there is a vulnerability that is known to have been exploited in the wild, it is a good idea to update your devices to the latest software for optimal protection.

What ever happened to updates for previous iOS versions??
I got one for iOS 17 on my iPad last time this happened, or at least some time after 18 came out. It was 17.7.4 to 17.7.5, I think. There was also one for my iPhone SE 0 at iOS 15 while back.

I do as I wish regarding the updates of my Apple devices and I couldn't care less about your (or anybody else's) opinion.
Well, I would hope so. They’re your devices. When you come at publicly on a form like this one it’s not uncommon for people to reply. I don’t think anyone’s going to force you to update your iPhone though so you’re good 😁

Fair enough. Your response though, could've been more articulated and less sarcastic. As you said, this is an open forum, so anyone can express their opinions (always respecting others). If you think my choice is wrong you could have explained why and gave me your opinion making a constructive debate instead of just mocking me with your sarcasm.

Edit: typo

After installing 15.3.2 you had to login into your Apple account again, but the password did not get recognized. When skipping it, it was already logged in. Anyone else?

It was meant more to be funny rather than sarcastic. There’s a saying that goes something like when you’re holding a hammer everything is a nail. It’s like if you have a negative perspective on something then everything becomes bad. Unfortunately it’s hard to convey intent when typing something in text. A lot of times it’s just how the person reads it and that causes miscommunication. I know there’s a /s for sarcasm I think or maybe an eye roll emoji. Maybe I should’ve used a laughing with tears emoji but then that could be construed as bad I guess

Thanks for clarifying and yes, I completely agree that written communication can be tricky sometimes. No offense taken and please, accept my apologies if in any case you felt I was being rude to you. That was not my intention.

If the attacks were only pre-iOS 17.2 I would be surprised if Apple would bother with a point-point release to further plug the hole, rather than waiting for a standard update. There must be some current / recent activity towards trying to exploit this vulnerability again.

No offense taken. Maybe if I had one of those fancy iPhone 16’s it would do the AI thing and rewrite it better for me. As it is, I’m stuck using the iPhone 14 voice dictation for my replies. It’s really fun when it changes words and I don’t notice it. 😂

😂 I'm still rocking my good old iPhone XR Red. No problem. I'm glad we could sort it out even without AI. ;):)
