Make the Desktop more interesting... "Live" wallpaper?

Hey,
So i came across a recent lifehacker post which was just sort of amazing.

Pretty much I'm wondering of ways to change my static desktop into something useful, but something that is also background (aka, not a bunch of hovering, clickable windows like activity monitor's cpu usage stuff). I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for, but the lifehacker post was pretty awesome and I'm thinking there's gotta be some cool stuff for mac like that.

That's from Windows Vista I'm pretty sure...

You can use GeekTool to add things like the time and weather to your desktop, here's a thread about it: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/628023/

For the CD covers to appear on the desktop you can do it through GeekTool but many people prefer Bowtie http://bowtieapp.com/

I have a program called Serene Saver Pro http://www.mylivingdesktop.com/ it allows you to use videos as your background

Of course you can always modify the dock and icons there are different ways of doing it but I find the easiest way of soing it is using Candybar http://www.panic.com/candybar/

google search onyx and after you get it under parameters and general you can set one of the screen saver animations as your desktop

Yeah, i had that for a while.. I dunno maybe what i'm looking for doesn't really exist

What exactly do you want? Movies in the background? Little animation files? Within the screen saver settings, you can have the background change every X minutes. That's what I use and I like it a lot. I got the wallpapers from interfacelift.com, so they're not just normal boring looking stuff.
