I have one of those annoying USB sticks with a 2mb partition for security software. The partition shows up as a seperate disk and as such I cannot merge it with the main partition, nor can I completely erase it.

As a workaround, is there anyway I can make it unmountable? Or perhaps you know how I can erase it completely? It's just that i find it very annoying.

The U3 partition comes from the factory as "read only" and Disk Utility can't remove it. You need the special software to get rid of it.

The solutions are towards the end of the thread, including a link to download a utility for the Mac that can remove the U3 partition.

Not relevant for me, it turns out mine is an Integral as opposed to Sandisk... :(

Anyone else?
