I have a macbook pro 13" and i installed that fan control app and my right fan says its running a rpm of -1? why? does this mean my fan is broke? i just got this laptop. the laptop is running at about 125 degrees.

Celsius or Fahrenheit? Normal if Fahrenheit, but very bad news if Celsius.

As for the fan speeds, it sounds like either the fan is broken or the speed sensor is. Hopefully this can be resolved by simply uninstalling the fan control application.

Finally, don't necro old threads. Post in one of the hundreds of recent temperature and fan control threads.

Your 13" MacBook Pro only has one fan, not two like in the 15" and 17" version of the MacBook Pro. So just ignore the right fan speed.

125'F is 51'C which is perfectly fine. When doing intensive stuff, expect your CPU temperature to reach up to 175F.

so i just downloaded fan control.

i made my setting to the recommended 2500rpm and 42/75

if i close the window, will these settings stay the same or do i just minimize the window to preserve my settings?

there is no right fan in a 13" macbook pro - this laptop only has one

I thought that you had the thing outdoors. That's the real way to make the computer ice cold. Try tonight, for example, with a freezing 25° temperature for five hours.

Let me guess... stick it in a freezer or move to the north pole? :)

Dont move to the north pole or the ice caps would melt.

Just downloaded this for my sons MBA. He had trouble watching youtube videos and the MBA ran really hot. I opened it up and cleared a lot of bumph from the fan and installed this app (thanks to this thread found on google). He can now watch movies full screen @480p on youtube no problem (I tried 1080p but there was a bit of stutter).

Thanks.
