You can find all the right parts for a working ipod off ebay...
Constructing it is relatively easy as well...

Consider this:
  • Front Panel
  • Battery
  • Wheel
  • Motherboard
(these are usually in a "set")
  • Back Panel
  • Back connectors (small circuit board for HOLD and HEADPHONES)
(Yet again these are usually together)
  • Hard drive Disk

All this is so much cheaper than buying a new ipod (nano and even a shuffle !!!)

The front panel (including everything stated) around $5
The back panel £7~£15
HDD varies depending on size... [bought a 3o GB HDD for £10 (inc P&P) - untested so could of arrived DOA (- Dead On Arrival) but it didn't so i'm lucky !!!]
Total cost would be less than a cost of a shuffle !!!

er i might have to do this, lol, my front panel's firmware is screwed and i broke the ribbon that connects back panel to front panel (the ribbon is so fragile !!!)

^_^

Don't know the costs of a video ipod yet, but i will take a look !!!!

You intrigued me with this post as my 4th g iPod photo just died. I want to build a new ipod because I dont want to buy a new one until the next gen ipod is released.

Were you able to find anymore info about building a 5g ipod? I would love if someone could create a check list as to all the parts you would need to buy to build a 5g ipod as well.

Regards

You can do your own tracking with eBay searches for completed or buy it now items on all those parts.

Id do it, but Im lazy.

are you?
