Hi guys,

Tell me your thoughts?

Best regards,

If you mean dropping a 15" logicboard into a 17" case, no.

All the ports and the internal layout will be wrong. Parts will be wrong. For instance, the 17" PB has a DC-In board with the modem port all by itself, but the 15" DC-Inboard includes the USB ports.

If you mean, extensive modification of the logicboard to make the ports line up and work, then well…good luck with that.

As @eyoungren points out - it’s going to be near impossible to line things up.

I wonder what other kinds of internals might suit your PowerBook housing... I have a 17” SLSD fully working and in excellent shape except for a busted ZIF connector on the logic board for the top case. I’ve contemplated fitting my RPi 3 inside but ... it would be an uphill challenge to connect everything

Hi guys,

A quick update on my endeavours :D
It's looking like this ;-)
Right now I'm testing with a PBG4 1.25Ghz with 256MBRAM running tiger ( no sound, wireless, bluetooth yet )
The logic board is "screwed" in place with the necessary cuts done on the case and
logic board support/heatsink/heatpipe.

Hi all,

Quick update.

0 - Better logic board fixing to case. Now LCD weight is properly supported :D
1 - Sound is connected and working but needs work ( sound bar too high for pb 17" case height )
2 - Wireless connected ( PB 17" airport express card )
3 - 1 usb port external accessible ( right side using a unifying receiver from logitech ) need
to find a smaller usb extender cable ;-)

Best regards,

Hi guys,

So some good news and some bad :( .

So for the bad I fried my pub's logic board hd controller.

The good news is I still have a logic board to continue this ad it is already
in the pb 17" case.
I've also made some improvements:

1 - I made a cut so the usb extende cable sits better on the case ( it was a bit tilted down on the outside )
2 - The HD is now sits inside the case inside the battery compartment ( a horizontal cut was made to pass the
HD cable )

A shot below :D

Best regards,
