    Hi,

I am going to upgrade to Leopard.
What size external hard drive do I need to make a bootable back up of OS X beforehand?

    Thanks.

Right now, I keep my iTunes library and a copy of all my documents on a 150GB external. I have about 50GB left of space. But most of my iTunes crap are tv shows rather than music, because I just buy what I hear and like on the radio.

    Hi,

But isn't a back up of the operating system itself I get rather than than the files on it.
I intend to put my photos, iTunes, etc. on a seperate 1 TB drive.

    Thanks.

What's wrong with just reinstalling from your restore disks if something goes wrong (it won't)?

When I asked over at apple.com discussion boards everyone said bootable hard drive - I just assumed it was nescessary!!

I don't need to buy a seperate drive then?

    Thank you.
