Making a fake Lan? VPN? Help!

i'll paypal $20 to whoever can provide an answer to this that works:

a friend and i both have macbooks.
we want to play a game that only works on a lan.

how can we create a fake lan, or how can i create a lan that he can log into from his house?

You should look into Hamachi. It's been a while since I read anything about the project, but it seems like it does what you need it to do.
