Hi Everyone :)

I just got my new MacBook Air 2020 m1 today, and I want to backup my Mac. so I'm wondering, is it safe to make a portion on the Macintosh hard drive that is the main drive that runs the system? I don't have an external drive to use, so right now is the only way I could use time machine is to make a portion on that drive

my Mac run Big Sur, I am downloading Monterey now

Not recommended. An external drive or even a usb pen drive is a more sensible solution. Using the same disk for main and backup is inviting disaster. And it will eat into your onboard storage.

Thanks for your reply. I will buy an external drive :)
