Hi ive got a mac mini and an external hard drive conected via firewire, i used carbon copy i think(?) or something to copy over they system etc and want to use the external as the boot drive, i chose my external drive under startup disk in preferences restarted it and asumed it was working, so i deleated the system off my internal now it wount boot up properly because i think its looking for the internal.

What can i do?

Boot from the OS X DVD/CD, but don't reinstall. There is a Boot Disk selector in the drop down menu at the top. See if you can get your mini to boot from the external.
