Make the jump

Switching to a Mac will be like learning to walk again. There are many links here that will help you make the learning curve less steep.

I can't even describe to you how much easier and more intuitive OSX is compared to windows. Not only that, you don't have to download 67 updates per day in the background either.

If you use your computer a lot, it will change your life...

Congrats!

You have to unlearn the "Windows" way and not force the Mac into behaving like a Windows computer.

This is what i did when i made the switch last year. Took me around two to three weeks to get the hang of mac os. Had a lot of fun while doing this as well, not had this buzz with a new computer since my old Commodore Amiga days :)

..I know many people who have switched from Windows to Mac...I know nobody who has gone the other way.

IMO XP Pro was Windows best offering...I have seen the likes of Vista / Seven in action, and I have to say I was underwhemed..

I'm one who switched back. I still have my MBA and carry it while traveling since its so damn light, but when I have work to do win7 just seems more efficient. menus anchored on the top are archaic, and I hate the dock it just seems a disorganized mess to me. in comparison, jump lists and multi monitor on Win7 are just more efficient IMO. there are some good things, I really love exposé. but I'm also wondering about the design direction of Mac software, with all the physical world metaphors like making a desk calendar complete with ripped pages for iCal (how many people under 60 have used a desk calendar?).

that said, I ordered my iPad this week with the engraving "your time is limited. don't waste it living someone else's life." :D

And the single corner to expand a window is also limiting.
Hopefully, Mountain Lion brings some good needed enhancements/change.

Totally false.

Actually changing RAM is totally fine and DO NOT void the Warranty. Apple explain in the documentation how to install RAM and which "specification" you need for the RAM you buy.

Of course if there is a problem with the RAM you buy elsewhere, you have to contact the Ram seller and not Apple. But installing ram has no effect on the warranty, even Applecare.

Yeah it was the Apple store guys that told me too.

couldn't agree more. aside from expose and spaces, window management on win7 is more efficient. aero snap, where you can double click anywhere to maximize, snap to half screen, etc is really nice.

Simple first thoughts on switching, since I switched less than a year ago. Down is Up, Right is Left. :)

Haven't had any real problems with my iMac including the upgrade to Lion, it's more getting used to the way this system works-- buttons being in the opposite places for example. Do take advantage of classes at the Apple Store if you can. I did not get One on One, but have taken two free classes at the Apple Store and they were very helpful.

I bought my computer at the Apple Store( 1 year interest free) as opposed to Best Buy (where I could get it for 18 months interest free) because after you purchased the machine, they take you to a counter open up the box and show you how to hook it up. Then they help get your e-mail all set up and allow you to play and ask all the questions you want before you box it back up to take home.
