making the screen go to landscape...

While Im trying to text it sometimes will take 3-4 turns to get the phone to switch into landscape... Any tips on how to improve this?

1.try turning off the phone and turning it back on

if that doesn't work

2. try a hard reset

if that doesn't work

3. try restoring the phone, though I do not think this will solve the problem.
