Making VLC.app open all .avi's?

I've had a lot of trouble with QT the last month or so. I've downloaded all of the codecs, reinstalled QT, etc. etc. It just wouldn't consistently work for me.

I've found VLC to be a better player anyways, but I don't want to have to right-click > Open Other > VLC.app > "check here to always open" or whatever it is. Is there a way I can set my computer to always open .avi's with VLC?

In the finder do a Get Info on any avi file, in the middle of that window pull down the 'open with' menu to vlc, then click the 'change all' button.
