Hello,

I want to hookup my external harddrive to my unibody macbook.

Harddrive needs 6 pin Male Firewire. Macbook needs regular USB.

Anyone know where I can find the right cable? Google and ebay are not helping.

Thanks.

There's no adapter to go from Firewire to USB. You might need to put your harddrive into a USB capable enclosure.

edit: Slight correction: the only adapter I know of is to adapt a Firewire video device to USB. It won't work to adapt Firewire storage devices to USB.

You can just put a USB extension on it. However, I do not believe it will work with storage devices - they're only for video AFAIK.

Is there anything I can use to connect my firewire storage device to the macbook?

The only thing I can think of is to move the drive from the Firewire enclosure to one with USB2. Although a bit more expensive, there are also cases with both FW and USB2.
