This is what the Press Release contains: "...The new product is designed to detect and remove malware, adware, and PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), capabilities that have been repeatedly requested by customers..." (SAN JOSE, Ca., July 15, 2015).

And this is what the official site contains:

"What it does for you
  • Removes adware, such as Genieo, VSearch, and Vidx
  • Removes malware, including Trojans
  • Scans quickly
  • Simplifies program management through a clean, lean interface".
I agree with you. Please, see above.
You are correct. The MalwareBytes for Mac website says the same thing as the press release and more. I am none too pleased. MBfM claims to "Tackle malware and the Mac's big myth." The "big myth," of course, is that there is no malware on the Mac. MBfM also claims to complete a scan in under six seconds. Both assertions cannot simultaneously be true. Adware can be scanned and removed in under six seconds because it involves fewer than 10 unique titles and has a well-defined location on your system. General malware would be located anywhere on your system. If MBfM scanned for general malware, then each scan would take multiple minutes if not hours.

I've stayed with the older (but still updated) V1.x track of the app. I tried the new V3.x version and I found it too intrusive with it's real-time protection...since I already run AVG I didn't need resources being taken up by two programs. So I uninstalled V3 and went back to V1.

V1 is Anti-Malware for Mac I assume?
