i've done a site in mambo and a site in joomla. not convinced i'd use either again, but if i did i'd use joomla.
it's good for a community site where you want multiple people to contribute content. i find it gets targeted a lot for fraudulent signups, but that may have something to do with my SMF install and the registration/login bridge connecting them.
