MAMP Hosted site will not work on Local Network

Ok i have a website hosted on a server on my local network. This is http://www.wvtroop6.org/. currently it just forwards to another site. I can access http://www.wvtroop6.org/ on my local network. However i cannot access http://wvtroop6.org/ (notice the lack of www.) on the local network. Others outside of my network are able to access http://wvtroop6.org/ without the www.

What can i do to give local computers access to http://wvtroop6.org (without the www.)?

Generally that's setup with the domain name registrar to set it to go to the same spot for www and w/o it. You may need to adjust the /etc/hosts file to make sure it points correctly for local machines.

I have 1and1 and it allows access to domains with or without www. However i think www. isnt pointing to local machines correctly

i looked at that link and that is for 10.4. because NetInfo Manager was discontinued in 10.5. How is this done in 10.5?

I generally just use Terminal to edit the file, which is covered on the second half of that article.

sudo pico /etc/hosts

I'd like to think there's an alternative solution, but nothing comes to mind off hand. Hopefully someone else here will have an idea.
