This is the #1 reason you cant just swap parts on a iphone, otherwise they would be targets for thieves for their parts alone. Which was extremely common with earlier iphones.
So in this regard, thieves are expediting the process of producing more landfill and supporting anti-consumer activities. Basically, they are the reason why Apple goes above and beyond to prevent users from repairing their own damaged iPhone and whatnot peacefully.
Never thought about that.

If this were Google, he would probably be f**ked. Thankfully, it’s Apple and they will most likely just ship him/her a new device out and blacklist the old one.

He/she gets a new device and whoever stole the original , gets a paper weight.

Unfortunately, just like a vehicle that has had it’s VIN blacklisted, this means nothing without matching serial numbers on all of the major components.

Starting to understand why Apple pairs parts yet? Hahahaha
