What an idiot. It's usually a good idea to verify your information is correct before taking an action that can have bad results.

Idk about you guys but who instantly grabs a stolen iPhone that isn't yours and starts making calls on it unless there trying to find out whos it is? Don't you think people would wonder why you were calling from a different number? Maybe the guy should have questioned him first in a friendly manner...just goes to show how much critical thinking skills people have :eek::(:(

The most ironic thing is that this guy is supposed to be giving a good example to the youth baseball.

Yeah really....that's the first thing that came to mind I just figured most would get that out of the article. Honestly though over a phone..:( I hope the other guy is ok. I wonder how the 52 year old feels..I'm guessing he'll feel like an ass everytime he see's an iPhone.
Looks like CupertinoRat's situation didn't end so well... :p

This! Haha I wondering who else will get this one!

Lost lawsuit will cost him around $10,000. Replacement iPhone would have cost him only $400. Not a bright guy.

not a bright move at all but why did find my phone lead him to another iphone

GPS isn't 100% accurate sometimes...For whatever reason sometime the iPhone relies soley on GPS instead of using everything all at once. For example when I'm at home on wifi sometimes my GPS is still off...this leads me to believe its not using network assisted GPS all the time which is bothersome. If it was slightly off like say 30 meters it could be the iPhone was near the other guy's iPhone.
EDIT: Just goes to show how accurate find my iPhone is...

Not bashing it but its not meant as a "Find down to the 1 inch mark" app. I used my iPad to track my iPhone 4 AT HOME.

This^^

Plus considering the guy was a jerk I doubt he looked carefully at the map.
Most probably the guy just took a quick look at the map once, went to the area and punched the crap out of the first person he saw with an iPhone.

That's sickening.

Definitely. And to think so many people plain steal phones yet they never get caught. Here a guy gets beat up just for using his iphone in public.

I hope the young man sues the crap out of the coach.

Another reason people should use real plastic phones and not fancy glass "fashion phones". iOS GPS is really crappy.

Why didn't the ump use the Play sound option to confirm whether or not it was his iPhone? What an idiot.
