Before you guys judge this guy for being a fanboy, idiotic, etc.

Keep in mind that people that do stuff like this...this isn't their first body-mod. Someone that gets a Trump 2016 Tattoo already has 25 other tattoos and just likes getting them.

Body modifications are an addiction / high and this was just a fun thing to do for a guy that has other things going on. If I didn't work in an office, I'd have more stuff done.

Meh. It's not like he went out and specifically got his ears gauged for the AirPods. Now THAT would be a story.

Apple should sell revolutionary hole punchers.
Hole punchers that delight the consumer.

The new revolutionary Air Holes!

Air Holes! For the A Hole in all of us.

That's neat, in terms of humor, but the design of these earbuds is dumb compared to what some of the other manufacturers have achieved.

I'm surprised that there's already 60 comments on this and nobody else has suggested it yet...

This article is click bait.

It's an article that most people, not having gauges, are shocked by, and click to read more, but there's really nothing more to say. It's about as newsworthy as someone choosing to stow a pencil by putting it through their gauged ear instead of putting it behind their ear - the only difference is that there's an Apple product involved. But you could hold any earbud the same way. Just snake the earbud wire through your gauge so if it falls out of your canal it's still hanging in the gauge.

If anyone on here is proficient enough in the olde Photoshoppe, can they have this guys neck extended a lá one of those African ladies that has the bands around their necks but put lightning to USB cables around, instead? He'd look dapper as ****! Wait, I mean dumb as ****...

DAMMIT!

That's creepy even to look at . Luckily the airpods are made by Apple, and not exploding Samsung!

It's a creative idea...but as someone who used to have gauged earlobes, you don't even need that big of a gauge to fit Airpods. I had gauges big enough to fit a whole pencil through!

(FWIW, when I outgrew the novelty of sticking office supplies through my ears, right around my junior year of college, I took out the gauges and my ears shrunk back to normal size relatively quickly. I doubt my ear piercings will ever fully close because of the stretching, but there's no way to tell I ever had them stretched...gauging your ears isn't really a big deal unless you push it to a really big size.)

Regardless of the accuracy of this story, I believe we have officially hit "Idiocracy". Where's the Brawndo?

I wonder how many people will run (not walk) to their local piercing establishment after seeing this....:D:p
(i promise i will not be one of them)

They may look funny on a regular guy, but as a fashion conscious company, they've now got models wearing them to show us how cool we can all look wearing the new Air Pods.

I can picture Jony Ive showing these off around the campus and everyone saying "yeah those are awesome"

I thought it couldn't happen, but Apple outdid Google glass.

More like "man seeks easy publicity exploiting misbeliefs".

The AirPods stay in place better than my Powerbeats. They just won't drop, nor move. Same experience for my girlfriend.

Your girlfriend won't drop or move, either?

Your girlfriend doesn't drop nor move? o_O EDIT: dammit, someone beat me to it.

Back to airpods - The issue is the airpods are hard plastic. The fit and movement will be very person-specific.

For some, it will fit perfectly and not move at all. For some, it won't fit at all. For some, it will fit but not tightly and can fall out. For some, it will fit too tight and cause pain.

For me personally, with the earpods, if I put them in like they are in the pictures, they are too loose and fall out. With the Bose earbuds, I use the L-size tips, so I guess my ear canals are larger than normal. If I jam the earpods in there, they can stay, but it begins to hurt after 5 minutes. Also, if I chew or move my jaw at all, they call out. Needless to say, I hate the earpods and I hate that shape of earbud.

Apple says they designed these to fit as many people as possible, but by the very virtue of them being rigid, they cannot possible fit even close to 100% of people. This is why silicone earbud tips are so good, by being non-rigid and including different sizes in the box, they can fit close to 100% of people.

People really don't think before they post pictures of themselves - even as a joke.

He is going to be mocked on Android forums and all over social media for being the ultimate 'fan boy'.
Well, in this guy's defense, he does look like he learned to walk upright this morning....
