I especially don't like it when people write apps that piggyback on a service that isn't theirs and turn around and charge for it.
Agreed! Also I hate Firefox, they make all that money from advertising for just writing an app that serves up other people's web pages! Surely it won't be long before MSN sends them a cease and desist order for making money off their content!

Well, to be fair, they do offer the browser for free, but make money on merchandise and advertising. I still laughed hard at this though, thanks.

iFlix

Netflix makes their money from the monthly services. Making it easier for us to add more movies to the que keeps them in business.

They should be offering this for free.
It is not that $2 is a lot of money, it is the same as when a bank charges you to deposit a check at an ATM. It makes no sense when the online version works well and for free.

^^ netflix didn't make this app. and no it isn't like an atm charge since you pay for the app once!

Seriously though, why does everyone feel the need to state their intention not to buy an app because of it's cost? The developer has a right to be compensated for his time regardless of whether you feel he is piggy-backing off of another service. Every thread relating to an app has all kinds of post of the same type: "I'm not buying that! Are you kidding me, $0.99? Ya right!!!"

Even the logic that says if buying twenty $2.00 apps is too much is faulty. If you find more than $2 worth of usefulness or efficiency, or enjoyment or whatever out of each of those apps then it's money well spent.

I think that most people think that developers only charge because the App Store makes it easy, when in fact the truth is that most free programs are free because taking care of payments is such a hassle, even with PayPal.

Just my two cents.

You know reading this post makes me wonder if there is already an acronym for READ THE F***KING THREAD (RTFT) like there is for READ THE F***KING MANUAL (RTFM)?

Are you planning on making a blockbuster version anytime soon? I like the look of your app much better than the other one that's available.

iFlix was a jailbreak App that was free, and it's very nicely done.

IIRC, so was Dashbuster.... I guess I'd consider buying it (assuming it's being developed more aggressively now... it was pretty static during the 1.1.4 J/B days), except that I remember that I was very excited about it when I first got my iPhone -- one of the first apps I installed -- and then I rarely used it after the first week or so.

I'm stuck with Blockbuster right now. Looking at Dashbuster, there's a notice saying Blockbuster's RSS feed is down. Does that mean Blockbuster management is down, or just a certain feature?

But if it was working, does Dashbuster have a good system for finding blu-ray over DVD? Or at least when you find the movie, adding it to the queue there's an option to pick blu-ray format?
