I finally got full admin access to my new Macbook. This is my computer-- the tech guys uninstalled their management crap (Munki?) because it interfered with some of the apps I use for work. BUT the preferences are still wonky. The tech guys want to just wipe the machine and set it up from scratch, but I'd rather not go through the hassle bc they suck and I'd have to reinstall stuff. So how do I fix the managed pref issues?

Every time I log in or boot up, the dock prefs and energy saver prefs return to their default settings. AND the dock has icons I can't remove-- a couple are question marks from uninstalled apps.

I have a couple managed preference panes, but deleting them doesn't help:

com.apple.ManagedClient.96BFF6F8-9DE9-50E8-8F88-846814519C74.plist
com.googlecode.munki.ManagedSoftwareCenter.plist

what version of macOS are you using you might try this if you have a shortcut of your hdd/ssd on your desktop double click on it open up the folder System type ins the search bar com.apple.ManagedClient..96BFF6F8-9DE9-50E*-8F88-846814519C74.plist then click on system if it finds it drag it to the trash bin do the same with google if all else fail you can reinstall macOS without erase your hdd/ssd I hope this helps

Thanks! I'm running 10.14.2. I already tried deleting the plists but they just appear again after restarting the computer.

Yes, they appear again after being deleted. That's the way it works. But, it's supposed to save any tweaks you make, not revert to default if you don't delete the plist file. Try it in an alternate User Account and see if your changes stick.
