Hi, I'm new to Mac.

I'm using Sun's VirtualBox as a virtualization solution and it works great. Ideally though, I'd like to share my USB Card Reader via USB passthro.

The main problem with this is that VirtualBox can't access this device because 'something else' is using it.

How can I see what is locking this device? I can *see* the device in system profiler but nothing else and there are no options to eject this device like I would have in Windows.

Thanks for any help.

This is a bit of a guess, but the first thing I would try is stick a memory card into the reader, then once it's mounted on the OSX desktop eject it and see if the reader becomes available to VirtualBox then.

Apologies - it's actually a USB _Smart_ card reader. So can't put an normal SD card in etc - only a smart card.

I can share other devices with VirtualBox though - like my iSight camera for example. However, the USB Smart Card Reader always gives an error.

I've attached a screenshot showing the error.
