For the 16GB Model:
Mfr.Part: MA627LL/A
Mfr.Part: MA627ZY/A

For the 8GB Model:
Mfr.Part: MA623LL/A
Mfr.Part: MA623ZY/A

Reading this review and looking at pre-orders part # looks like Apple switched who made parts for the Touch. People mind posting their Mfr.Part and if their screen if good or bad and we can see if the pattern emerges from that.

Perhaps a little information on where you can quickly find this information on your reciept or your iPod? (I keep saying Phone. Gah.)

Are we sure that serial difference isn't just engraved v. non-engraved units?

I'm pretty sure nobody has gotten engraved iPods just yet.

Awww crap... mine says LL --- does that mean I'm gonna get a bad one?

Mfr.Part: MA623LL/A - Bad

Where do you see "MA623ZY/A" ???

It only shows MA623LL/A at the store:

Australian Part Numbers:

8GB iPod Touch: MA623ZP/A
16GB iPod Touch: MA627ZP/A

Must be region coding for the parts.

I have LL and there is barely any problem. In fact I would venture to say it is just the viewing angle from the small screen.

Hi all :)

Cancom, A well known Apple reseller in the UK is quoting the model number as below

Also I called them Yesterday and they said they were receiving 500 units today (mixed variety of 8 and 16gb models) So possibly a good option for those that can't get to an apple store and want next day delivery - Note - The Price is also very competitive - £10 Cheaper than the normal UK retail cost

As soon as my iPod comes (Tomorrow or Friday I hope) I'll report on the screen and post some pics. - I figure Blade Runner would be a good (dark) movie to test, it's also one of my favorites :)

Later all :)
