iPod touch Manufacturing Change?

I've ordered mine from Cancom as well. Their website says 2 days so I'm with you - hoping they come in this week!

They usually send an email when products like this are actually in stock (they did with the iMac and with the MacBook) so yeah.. 😀

Can't wait.
 
Just checked the Best Buy website and their online ordering is currently being updated. Maybe they're removing the troublesome iPod Touch models from their database.


Also, the Part Number for the Irish Apple Store is MA627
 
Yes, the last two letters are region codes.

That said, both of mine are/were MA627LL/A, and both are bad.
 
I'm at work right now, and the model numbers are the same (the SKU would probably change) in our system. (the system that BBY's website gets it's info from...and a lot more detailed for me)

they have not added any more SKUs for ipod touch products. (usually SKUs are added when they get notified by the manufacturer that a product is going to be available and order the product, for example a few weeks before we got Wii's and PS3's last year they added tons of game SKUs and hardware)

also, there is nothing about the screen issue on the official communications from corporate/apple. there is, however, some feedback from employees that they are seeing the negative black issue all over with a large amount of units.
 
I work in a UK APR and we are getting 10 MA627ZO/A in Friday. Will be cracking one open for demo and will let you know. However people are right. Apple tell us before they introduce any more SKU codes. So they haven't changed manufactures yet.

So yea hopefully friday dispatch, And Cancom is next day delivery - that will probably mean monday I guess.
 
ZO here too, on my UK status form.

Nice idea, but I doubt they'd be able to switch manufacturers that quickly! Unless they've been doing an IBM/Intel on us again and keeping an alternative on standby.
 
Our demo MA627ZO/A has screen issues. Clear in any episode of 'Lost' or 'Wild Hogs' downloaded from the iTunes Store.

It's put me off getting one. Will see if my mates has issues later tonight. We sold all 10 that we got in today (apart from the one put aside from me). One only customer had heard about the screen issues.

So that puts it into perspective. If only 10% of the people know about the issues then obviously a lot of people aren't bothered.

If you don't watch movies you won't be. Everything else looks fine.

I purchased an 8GB iPod Touch at the NYC 5th Ave. Apple Store on 9/14, Model MA623LL. Screen is bad.

I received an 8GB iPod Touch from the Apple Online Store in the mail today 9/20, Model PA623LL. Screen is good.

EDIT: Side-by-Side, there is a marked difference between the screens, even with identical (default) settings for Brightness slider and Auto-Contrast. At these same settings, the MA appears slightly brighter, but less defined, when viewing the standard menu screens (i.e. a little "hazier"). I did a direct comparison by loading one of the "dark" default wallpapers on both iPods, then tilting away until the viewing angle was bad. The "blacks" fade out almost completely on the MA, while the PA retains definition in the shadows.
