I'd always missed my iPad Mini 1 (gave it to Mom)

I didn't realize how much I missed it until [finally] getting the 5 last week.

iPadOS rocks pretty hard and the screen share, 'Sidecar', works rather nicely with my Macbook 12 Retina.

I still miss iPhotos from the era of iOS 6 though lol.

Now that I've bought the Mini 5 the update should be right around the corner, you're welcome lol

.

Got mine a few months ago and still love it. Perfect for on the go and for bedtime reading or just general browsing on the sofa...a device I can see keeping for quite a while. I use it everyday on my break and going away...even with a new iPad pro I would still use this

Congratulations on your purchase!
+ Love for the Mini 5 here as well 😁 The regular iPad is just way too big.

I wanted one so badly and bought it after torturing myself for months over it - realized I really did not have a use for it with my other devices, so I returned it.

FF to today, I was ordering a new iPad for my granddaughter, and she picked a mini over a 7th generation, so another one is coming.

The urge to buy an iPad mini 5 is strong...

Yes the iPad mini 5 is a great device. If only they’d make a modern iPad look for the iPad mini that would be even better! Congratulations anyway on your new iPad

That probably going to bring the price up quite a bit.

I gave my mini 4 to my mom who needed to replace her old mini. Between my iPhone se and 12.9 ipp, I thought I might be able to go without it. It was actually really annoying to not have a mini, so I ended up buying the 5 pretty quickly. It’s a relief having it again. It’s my go-to device at home. For casual use, I never found the bigger iPads, even the 9.7”, near comfortable enough. I hope they keep the mini going indefinitely.

I'm not happy that they've pretty much orphaned the iPad mini. I like the form factor, but it's lagging too far behind technology updates. If they don't surprise us with a new mini that mirrors the iPad Pro, I'll be getting a Pro and waving goodbye to my well-worn iPad mini.
To each their own, but to me, as long as performance is there (and in the mini 5 it definitely is), form factor tremendously outweighs having the latest and greatest features.

That's ok. Same footprint but with slightly taller screen (8.5" or whatever it works out to), FaceID and squared off sides would basically be an instant buy for me, even if they increased the price by $200.
I think the price gap between Air 3 and Pro 11 (MSRP) is $300.

Wonder how many takers it'll have at $699 versus the current $399 for the mini 5.

That square edges would be painful to hold in some positions. I like to hold mine with one hand the corner rested against the palm. Wouldn’t work unless the edge is rounded.

How do you like the screen compared to the 4?

I never got a chance to compare side by side, but in my use I don’t notice any difference. Is there supposed to be?
The differences are negligible.

Many people complain about the screen being magenta, as in blacks being reddish. You can compare with the 4 by doing a black screen test.

Yeah, thanks but that’s not what I meant.

Ive had every model of iPad mini. However I think the screen on this one is really nice especially with the True Tone. I have a kindle but I find that I’ve been using it less and less for reading and using the iPad mini more.

If they did make a new iPad Mini in a form factor more like the iPad Pros it probably still wouldn't get all the goodies from the Pros (i.e. it could get a new design with slimmer bezels & FaceID, but would probably not have Promotion, quad speakers or an X series processor. I could easily see them selling an iPad like that for $599.
