It has to be said that Apples partnership with a weak player such as Tom Tom has led to the utter debacle of Mapgate.

The internet is alive with complaints and comparisons between Apples new iOS 6 mapping soloution compared to Googles from previous iOS versions.

The iPhone you paid alot of money for now "just dosent work" in contrast to Apples "It just works!"

It would be good to hear how this affects you.
How reliant are you on a pocketable mapping soloution?
Do you feel Apple has rushed this to market?
Do you feel hard done by spending so much on equipment that now does not function as described, and to a lesser extent than it did before (IE a downgrade)

Post your examples from where you live

I would suggest that if your unhappy then you should submit feedback directly to Apple.

The maps for me are adequate, but clearly inferior to Google Maps. However, I am seeing that other people are finding that to be completely insufficient, and it really is frustrating to see Apple forcibly pushing worse maps on its buyers.

enough with the [insert problem]gate statements people..everytime we have a new device. so annoying.

maps has worked perfect for me, and in fact better than google maps. the turn by turn worked flawless the 3 times i have used it. Accurate.

im sure there are people with problems on the new maps, but for me so far its been great!
the 3d view is way cool and useful

Do you think that Apple will release a Statement or even revert back to Licencing Google Maps. This is all over the web, i think they will issue a statement soon.

Many people rely on mapping soloutions, the iOS was quite capabale before but now in certain areas it litterally is unusable

Woah...Maps is just one of the features I bought the phone for. And, it's not the number one, two or event third reason I did. I expect it to be adequate for my needs. Definitely not a deal breaker.

in the meantime you can just go to maps.google.com in safari on your iphone and add it to your desktop...don't see what the big deal is. google will release an app for download soon.

Google map has been around for years. Apple is just starting.

I expected that it will be worse than Google map.

I don't expect to catch up with google map for 2-3 years.

Will users wait for apple? Maybe... not.

I think Apple will definitely be issuing a press statement soon, as I imagine they are being deluged by complaints.

I used their new Maps this morning and it seemed fine. People just like to fuss over anything. Wow.

Another gate. I think we should have one unified name for which all these "gate" scandals fall under. My vote is for Gate-Gate

looks like most the people having complaints are not from the US.

im sure apple will just say the maps app is "in beta" still just like siri ;)

Yeah they work in exactly the same way Google Maps did, and just as effectively. The turn by turn work well.

The fact that public transit isn't baked in isn't a big issue. I have the apps made by the transit authority in Ottawa, Victoria and Toronto, the cities I split my time between, and they were way better anyways.

Not sure why we are blaming TomTom for this..

In the UK I use TomTom for my Sat Nav and it is perfect !

This is Apple's issue - and we shouldn't let them off the hook on this..

How many of these people complaining are just hearing about the reviews and jumping on the bandwagon of negativity about the new maps.

I have not used it enough to make a conclusion yet. That being said maps is not a make or break feature for myself. Also this was a huge undertaking by Apple, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this is a starting point and they had the balls to implement their own maps solution. I think like most things Apple takes on it will improve over time and something they will work hard at to improve.

I was just starting to like Google's transit feature (being from New York). I'm interested to see how Apple is going to handle that.

I use maps A LOT, so I'm anxious to try it out...

I understand we are all sick of the "_____gate" wording, but that aside, the Maps app is a huge disappointment. I for one took the OP up on the offer and posted feedback on the Apple website.

Let's do everyone a favor and look past the semantics and look at the bigger issue. "Small minds think small."

I only fear this misstep with the Maps app is one of many to come in—dare I say it—the post-Steve era.

There, I said it. The cat's out of the bag. Flame away.
