This seems so obvious, it must have beeen asked before, so sorry if it's a duplicate post, but I did try searching first.

I have a PowerBook that spends a lot of time with an external (Apple) USB keyboard attached. On my PB's built-in keyboard, F3-5 control volume. Is there a way to make the same F-keys on my attached external keyboard control the same functions? At the moment they don't. However, F9-11 controls exposé on both keyboards.

The newer Apple keyboards (the black or the white keyed clear ones) have the volume buttons built into the top right above the number pad.

Mine is the old "Apple USB Keyboard" (introduced August 1998, Apple's first), in matching blueberry. It has all 12 function keys and none of them have any special markings. No special volume keys.
