Does anyone use apple maps for walking directions?

I've tried around London but it doesn't seem reliable enough.

I normally use google maps and since they now have background app support I can just sleep my phone and it interrupts my music to tell me where to turn and it works flawlessly.

I gave apple the benefit of the doubt but it didn't deliver. Struggling to portray orientation, not updating my position, failing to tell me where to turn at the end of streets etc. Am I doing something wrong or has maps got some way to go?

I was wondering, does the jacked up 5S compass screw up map directions?

I doubt it, google maps seemed fine, apple maps was constantly adjusting orientation.

I was hoping ios7 and the new motion chip would bring fluidity and effortless navigation but for me that isn't the case.
