Using a MacBook Pro

"Maps" & "iCloud" not updating to my current location! It's showing my Current Location as my previous address in New Jersey, which is very strange because I moved about 3 hours away..

I was trying to find directions in the MAPS app, and it kept finding my current address as my old one.. And then I tried using the "Find my iPhone // Find my MacBook Pro" within iCloud and it was showing that it found both my iPhone and MacBook Pro at my old location in New Jersey.. but the thing is that I'm up in New York now, and I have both my iPhone and MacBook Pro in my possession.. so is there a way to get my Current Location updated? It was weird bc I even tried using the "Find my XYZ" thru the iCloud website and even on the website (iCloud) it was showing my location as my old address (about 200 miles away)..

How do I go about fixing this? I want to make sure if there are any emergencies and I need my Current Location to actually reflect? Thank you~!

Did you by any chance stay with the same internet service provider and keep the same ip address?

Locations are normally driven from the ip address you have from your ISP (unless you set it up manually).

I actually changed internet providers when I moved, could that be the problem? How would I go about fixing it? Thanks!

In that case check that Maps has permission to access location services in your System Preferences (open System Prefs and type location into the search box to see where it is set).

Normally a change of ISP and therefore ip address would update your location so it looks like it can't update so I suspect access permissions.

I have the same problem as just moved from LA to Las Vegas but maps and time still say I am in LA. Changed internet provider as well as got a new WIFI set up. Fun though if I use "Find my Phone" then my iPhone and iPad is in Las Vegas on correct address but my MBP Retina with Yosemite is still in LA though placed next to my phone and iPad....

Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks
