Maps in "Find My Friends" way better than in "Maps"

Considering that roads are labelled in one and not the other (even though it's zoomed in more), yes.

"just lists the street labels" ... because that's ordinarily not important on a map. 🙄

Nope... I tried to get the zoom levels to be the same. At any zoom no additional data or streets get drawn in the Maps app. In FMF the maps are always crisp, notice how blurry they are in the Maps app.

They're blurry because they're zoomed in more. It's the same satellite image in both.

The street labels are the important difference.

No...but maybe that is because for me the images are swapped when clicking them.

Odd. I haven't noticed that where I am, though (just tried it).

Try it... The location is "Zagreb, Croatia".

No matter how hard I try to zoom in and out I can't get the Maps images to look better or equal to those from FMF.
The zoom here is identical:

Searching for one of the streets in Maps I get all streets labeled (as always) and even better resolution than your screenshots.

Find my friends does seem to have slightly clearer satellite maps. In flyover areas they are quite different - find my friends shows my downtown with heavily shadowed buildings whereas maps seems to be rendering the images itself, even when it in 3D/flyover mode.

The biggest difference to me is that find my friends actually draws the streets on top of the image where maps just labels the images for the most part (and shows fewer labels). I like the find my friends look better personally

I'm trying to look up some US cities...
It's weird. Somewhere satellite images seem to be blurry in the Maps app, somewhere they're fine.
The "standard" overlay over satellite maps is always complete in FMF app, I don't know why it's worse in the Maps app.

When zooming in further you get all street names and satellite pictures even better than googles (although slightly lower res) for Zagreb.

That's because Apple's Maps are strictly for the iPhone. They're not on the web.

No obviously not, the google images are way overexposed for the area, an obvious difference.

No, you can. By adjusting the label to small it will show more labels. It's using vector so you got more label when you zoom in unlike Google map on iOS that is rasterized so it show every labels at any zoom. It's just different.
