With all that's going on, will Apple refresh any iPads between March and April? If not... when?

The rumors were leaning on some sort of the iPad hardware coming out by the end of the month. I've been holding off so I can either get a current iPad Pro at a discount or get the new iPad Pro for the about the same cost that the current one is going for at the moment. Since a lot of the world's economies have been shutting down in attempt to hold back spread of COVID-19, I'm left wondering if a refresh will even happen in the first half of the year or if Apple is going to wait until the fall. Or maybe just wait until WWDC in June.

I'm curious, community. What are your thoughts on when the next iPad Pro refresh will happen?

I think they'll get delayed. I'm waiting now for an iMac and I'm in the same boat as you.
If you don't need it urgently, I would say just wait. Could be end of April, who cares.

I did the same with iPhone XS, bought the latest in July and in September boom iPhone 11. Two month had I waited, about $200 could have went into a pair of airpods. I'll never forget that feeling of regret and money wasted.
I mean if you're going to pay the full price for a latest device, might as well be just released.

Given the current uncertainties that multiplying daily and lack of verifiable information, anybody's guess is as good as any other. A poll won't give you a useful answer, just a count of random guesses.

I think it will be delayed but not until the iPhone launch in fall. More then likely pushed from March to late May or June. Apple doesn't want release new ipad models along side with iPhone models in fall time. Both products are big announcements and profits for Apple and need their separate showings otherwise it'll create Apple product overload to consumers. They will introduce iPad's ahead of the iPhone release. This is their strategy plan. If it wasn't for this corona virus they would've announced new ipad models.

I’d love for a fall release as I would like the iPads to get all the good stuff the iPhones do, (granted not ALL) but when iPads have been released near or right after iPhones, they get the newest processor, faceID, camera, FaceTime camera, and many of the features to line-up better with Apple’s favorite product.

example:
I don’t want the A13X, I want the A14X and faster FaceID, better display tech (if that’s possible) and just all around new features... then again, the iPad Pro 3 is still the best Apple product I’ve ever had, so I may just stick with it IF there are no real good upgrades to the iPad.

That's why Apple has been releasing the iPads in the spring. The iPad gets a boosted SoC from the most recent iPhone release. And that's why we would expect an A13X. It's going to be better than the A13, it may still have some advantages that it shares with the A14 because Apple fine tunes the SoC for the iPad release (thus, the X in the name). The A14X should be expected to release with the 2021 iPad refresh. I see why you would feel like you're getting short-changed, but I don't believe that's the case. I like the way Apple has been doing it. That could always change, though. There was the year the A7 released on iPhones and iPads at the same time. But clearly that was a one time thing for Apple. I'm not sure they will do that again.

I predicted several weeks ago that there would be no iPad Pro refresh in March/April due to the rumored 5G capabilities slated for these devices. I still hold to that, virus or not. They will most likely come in Sept.

I would, however, love to see two iPad mini launches—one refresh (and please oh please with a lower price point) and a “Pro” model—again with 5G—in the fall.

It happened in 2015 and 2018 as well.

At this point, I have no clue.

If none of the rumored features are ready (5G, MiniLED, a14X) then is a minor refresh even worth the trouble?

Two iPad Pro upgrades in one year would only result in user backlash so wouldn’t it be better for Apple to skip the a13X model and focus on getting a more drastic and feature rich upgrade out this year?

Agreed, plus I plan to not order anything outside the US until the Covid-19 is no longer a concern. How would Apple even be able to manufacture new iDevices without contamination concerns?

Kallum.

The WHO officially stated the risk of contamination is low via goods handled by someone who is carrying the virus. Typical EOL for the virus is 2 hours, and a few days at best. Just to be safe, skip the overnight shipping!

More proof of new iPad's models.

Like i said in a previous post Apple is ready to release these new iPad's and their reveal would have been at the end of this month. The only thing holding back the announcement and going to full event/announcement is the coronavirus pandemic outbreak. Apple when it comes to their products, wants to be the center of all attention and knows this isn't the proper time with all the distractions at the moment.

Looks legit and a hard pass for me. Sticking to my #1 Rule. Always Skip one IPad Pro Generation.

New iPad Pro has just been leaked by Apple themselves via a video. Including the new keyboard.

Up on Apple's site.

Keyboards at $299/350 for 11/12.9. Almost spout out my coffee. The keyboard costs over 1/3 the iPad cost. A joke. Not paying $350 for a keyboard, Apple is smoking crack.

128gb on the base ipad is a good move though for the same $799/999

I am kind of shocked that Apple released these new Pros now. I thought maybe they would, but figured it'd be later. I'll likely be ordering one of these soon. :)

The keyboard looks nice and all, but I'm not buying one right now.
