This is weird. I just got my March challenge through - to go at least 191.4 km. but it says I’ve “already gone 171.8 km”. I’ve literally JUST got out of bed and it’s March 1!? What’s going on?

These challenges have been buggy like hell for a while now. I got my January challenge on new years day...

This morning when I woke up and burned 7 calories it said I had an average of 9 calories per day and that I would get the medal with an average of 432.

Explain me how 7 calories burned in march gets me an average of 9 ;-)

Apple needs to fix this crap...

If it was me, I'd go out and immediately go 19.6 km.

I'm always curious about these buggy issues -- if they are related to non-U.S. countries, or if the bugginess also affects U.S. users as well -- or more specifically timezone related. If it's older model watches, if older paired phones, if not latest watchOS/iOS... and lastly if the watch and paired phone have been rebooted.

As for your wondering what's going on... my best guess is it has to do with last month being only 28 days.

I think this refers to the max km you went by foot last month or earlier. This kind of message does not give you information about the actual month.

My personal setup: Apple Watch Series 0 (old school!) with the latest WatchOS Stable release and an iPhone X currently with 11.3 beta 3 (but the issues have been going on for months with stock iOS 11.2.x). I live in Belgium, timezone is CET (GMT+1)

Edit: My girlfriend has the same problems with her Series 3/iPhone 6S, both latest stable OS-releases.

It has been buggy for months now so it has nothing to do with February having 28 days.

Can't be, read my post. It said an average of 9 calories this morning. It if would be a "today-30 days"-period or something the average would be way higher. I can only imagine the same logic applies for distance related goals/achievements.

Wow, that's one long bed...

Jokes aside, it's a bug that's existed since WatchOS 3. Occasionally special challenges will glitch out and either give strange parameters or award you stuff you're not supposed to have. When I changed my time zone from Europe to Asia, it awarded me the Thanksgiving challenge achievement and unlocked the iMessage stickers even though they're not supposed to be available to people outside of the US.

Edit: Rigt after posting this, my watch buzzed me with a 200% Move achievement despite the fact that none of my rings have been completed yet.

Mine has come through ok this month but others have been glitchy ‍♀️

You are right with your assumption. In your case it is most certainly a bug. Sorry for not being clear enough.
I meant that the message if not buggy tells your (maybe) all time high of what ever goal to achieve. This makes sense but is carried out poorly.

My goal is to burn 60 calories per day? As long as I roll out of bed i think i should be ok.

For reference, last month it was to exercise for 36 mins per day.

Is there anywhere to view a monthly review for your activity, rather than looking at each individual day and adding it manually? I've been given an overall mileage total for my March challenge. When the challenge popped up, it told me how many miles I had gone in February. But I dismissed that info, and now I'm trying to see how many miles per day I need to average. Since March has three extra days, I may not need to do much more than my normal totals, but without adding up 28 days of mileage for February through the activity app I don't actually know. Am I missing a monthly review somewhere?

ETA: I've found in the activity app where I can see my Move/Exercise/Stand goals and a bar graph for a month, but still not finding an overall mileage total. Clearly that data is recorded somehow though, if it is being used for a challenge.

ETA2: A ha! I did find an average total kind of buried in the Health app. :) I will keep looking to see if I can find an actual monthly total.

Think it's weird that everybody gets other challenges... I can understand that one person has to burn more calories than someone else, cause it has to remain "challenge" but some people need to work out x times, other people x minutes, some need to burn x calories, etc. It's like the watch does whatever it wants...

Wierdness abounds! I got up this morning and my challenge was to burn a certain amount of calories. I even wrote it down so I could do the math. Just got back from a run and the challenge CHANGED from total calories to a new amount of total minutes. Even weirder, my workouts are there but my Move amount is stuck at 521. Just the run calories add up to more than that!

Mine changed last month (and January, I think) but this month it’s been constant (so far at least). It’s to average 44 minutes a day; I much prefer a monthly total, not least because if you don’t hit these challenges a while before the end of the month it can all go horribly wrong.

Feb was a good challenge and made it. March looks to be fairly well calibrated and I'm glad it's not routine based on distance like February but still motivating :)

Not so random. My watch told me I did 62 workouts last month so it wants me to do 64 this month.

Think how boring it would get if it wasn't mixed up like that. I'm kind of glad it does it the way it does.

Mine wants me to burn over 22,000 calories this month, not sure if I can do that many or not.

This made me laugh out loud.

Mine is 34.6K, so it could be worse! I've walked over 10 miles today and still haven't hit what I need to average to get the award :D

Why would it be any more or less boring that everybody in the month March has the same kind of challenge, and then next month some other kind of challenge. My girlfriend and I compete with completing our circles and stuff, yet these monthly challenges seem to be completely random so no added value... Seems like they forgot the social factor.

Gave up on the Challenge for this very reason. At first I worked like crazy to earn and then watched them just disappear for no reason. That was the end of this for me. Now in the gimmick category!
