Well kinda, I just meant how can I make my dock look like "cms2" dock and others that are similar along with changing the symbol under each open application.

his dock is 2d. you can turn it 2d with a terminal command

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

then:
killall dock

indicators you can find at various online sites, and you change them by going to system > library > core services > dock >show package contents > resources and the files are "indicators"

This is my desktop, for the 'war' at the bottom, i used png image icons...

PS. the background I made myself:

Chad H, I use a free app called Dock Dr; you don't have to type terminal commands which for a new person (and even slightly less new people like myself) is really probably not the best idea. You can download a simple widget version here http://www.innermindmedia.com/dock_doctor_widget.html which is what I use, or for more options like changing the color of the 3d Dock you can use the more advanced version here
http://www.innermindmedia.com/dock_doctor_app.html

Either way you just click the option you want and hit "restart" in the app. It doesn't restart your mac, just the dock.

The 2d version I am using automatically uses the small white dot open indicators you see in my dock.

Sorry if this is long, but I hope it helps. :D

And welcome to Mac! :apple:

dockdoctor really isn't that great.
i forgot what other ones there is but their are a lot

no really i used to use it and i could not get it to go back to the original and the way to change the docks is really annoying

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/421495/
try this thread i asked somewhere about an app for this and i can't find it but this should solve all your problems

Thanks for the clarification. I alternate constantly between the two (2D/3D) versions depending on my wallpaper and have never had any problems; I hope that it works well for Chad H -- I'd hate to have given him bad advice.

Now to get back on topic: This one looks FANTASTIC on my MBP Glossy.

Here's my new one for tonight, maybe tomorrow. I found it on deviantart a while back. Does anyone know where this picture is from? I feel a very strong urge to visit there. It's very gritty and real, you know?

well, i did a search for "araki self life death" and came up with stuff about a gallery showing of work in london, and london was one of my first thoughts based on the picture, so that's my official guess :)

genius! well i've never been to London, but it's on my list. So I guess this amazing picture hasn't changed much about my life plans. :D
