Wow. Best music player I have used, and I have tried a lot. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks a bunch bro! :)
Please spread this app among your friends. Don't you think it needs attention?
And i'll ask developer about the Grouping Type and will reply you here. :)

Thanks for your suggestion. I am using it as an alternative of music app. :p

Hehe. I hope it becomes your primary music player one day! :)
Do share it as much as possible buddy. :)

Yep, that developer sure knows how to design an excellent interface. It all just makes so much sense.

Already done that, I also asked about a landscape mode for iPad. Here is his reply:-

Grouping type is a feature which groups the items which are in a genre/Album Artist/etc. as Grouped by Albums or No Grouping.

If you select - No Grouping, all the songs in an Artist/Genre would be shown in alphabetical order when an Item is selected. Otherwise It'll be grouped as Albums.

I hope you got it. If not, You can always try both options, You'll understand how it works. Nice suggestion about putting it in FAQs section. Actually I already introduced a FAQs section in v1.2, It's coming this week. It just doesn't explain this one.

About the Landscape on iPad, I never planned not to give that, but it's a bit complex than it seems. I'm seriously thinking something about it.

Currently I'm working on an Amazing Landscape View for iPhone. If things work out, I'll add Landscape for iPad as well.

Question, will it work with my existing playlists in iTunes? In particular with my smart playlists?

I'll explain how it interacts with my Smart Playlists.

I have playlists like this:-

2ynp1ea.png

These playlists are available in Marvis. When I play a song and then sync back to iTunes it updates the 'Last Played' date and the play count. It does not live update the Smart Playlist from within Marvis.

I have found a work around though. If I want to update the Smart Playlist I force close Marvis (swipe up), open iOS Music Player which updates the Playlist, re-open Marvis and voila all fixed. Yes it's cumbersome but I don't have to do it very often at all and this may get fixed in a future update.

I like it. My main issue is how it works when navigating through the artist view. Which is basically the cover art of the first album (in alphabetical order), which opens up to an alphabetical order of every song of said artist.

What I THINK would work better, is that the artists listings itself is a list, and you click on a name, and it opens up to a grid (basically the other way around to how it is now). And it should be sorted by year, because really, an artist's discography is viewed as if it were a book series, or like a timeline.

Some playlists related to song ratings would auto update when ratings change. For others you can just try deselecting the selected playlist and select it again.

Anyway, I'll add pull down to refresh playlist view, so you don't have to kill Marvis. Please don't kill it.

Play with the Grouping Type in the settings, I think you will find what you are after.

You can change the grouping type for the artists view and more views, go to 'Grouping Type' feature and it will group items in selected artist by albums, not alphabetically ordered songs.

And yeah nice Idea about sorting items in an artist by year. I'll surely work on it, also give an option to disable it.

I just thought I would point out to everyone else that this is the developer of Marvis. We have been emailing each other about the app and I linked to this thread.

Aditya is very responsive to suggestions so you can post here.

That's another one for the FAQ you're working on Aditya. What the Grouping Type does and how it works.

For those, who are thinking about Marvis Updates, I've already Submitted v1.2. And If Approved it'll be live in a few days.

Here's what's new:

‣ Introducing Lists View. Lists Looks Cool and Improves Performance on Slower Devices as well. You can choose from List/Grid on a per View basis. (Views Supported - Albums,Artists,Album Artists,Genres and Composers).
‣ Ability to Filter Music by 'All','Local Only' or 'iCloud Only', Use 'Show Music' Option in Marvis Settings to use this Filter. Toggle-able on a per view basis as well.
‣ Prevent Auto-Lock. Prevents your device from Auto-Sleeping when Enabled.
‣ Ability to Delete Multiple Items in Playback Queue.
‣ Added 'Play Next' Option in Playback queue. Swipe an Item Left to Reveal.
‣ Check for Updates. Keep an Eye for Marvis Updates right from Marvis. A Toggle to Automatically Check for Updates when Marvis is Launched.
‣ Added some FAQs in Support section inside Marvis Settings. Read them if you feel there's an Issue. It may already be answered there.

Bug Fixes.

- Fixed a very rare issue which crashed Marvis every time a song was played for some users.
- Fixed Playlists Names Randomly changing issue.
- and many more fixes to Improve Overall Performance...

Thought something was wrong.

It is great to see developer has an account in here. This should help a little bit.

IOS 8.4 beta music app is greatly overhauled. I like this app. But if Marvis could do better, I may throw stock app away from dock.

Now I am still testing the function of this app. Hope new version could bring us a fresh start.

Ahh, I got it now. The settings are very confusing because it says "None" is at the top. Thank you.

I would really like to have that view in my playlists too. ;)

Thanks for considering sorting by year.

The playlists show up as a list. It would be nice to be able to have the same grouping options as my artist view. (This is how I use iTunes on my computer)

I think I understand. So in iTunes if you select Playlists and select View>View Options you can choose Songs, Albums, Artists, Composers, Genres. Is this what you mean?

For just display purposes would you mind explain to me why that is more useful than how Marvis currently works? Because it currently shows you the songs as a list, with an album cover, listing the album and artist. Which is the same you get in iTunes just formatted to better fit a small display.

Am I missing something?

Actually it's possible iOS 8.4 may mess with Marvis. You may see some unexpected Results. 8.4 has really messed 3rd Party Music Players. But it's really surprising that all the issues reported to me are unique.

You have it right about iTunes.

I don't just have albums in my library. I have b-sides from singles, remixes, EPs, bootlegs, and a bunch of other various recordings. From various different artists that I like. I use the album view because in my mind, I know where certain versions of songs originated from, I know what year they were recorded, among other things, but I can't really tell you the name of the album, I just know the artwork.

And I organize them with smart playlists, and when I'm at a computer, I don't even use the main iTunes "Music" panel because it's a complete nightmare to look through with everything in there. So all my playlists are setup in that album view so it's like as if I were looking at that main "Music" page.

Some people just throw all this extra stuff in one extra album that they just add and add to. I don't do that because I feel like cover art, and having them named as they are supposed to, is just enough to keep digital music collecting "tangible" to me.

The list view is good when you're looking at an album itself and want to pick out something to play. I don't particularly like the way it is in Marvis because it puts the list in a separate thing I have to scroll through to find something.
